Frequently Asked

Eight common questions.

If yours isn't here, email support@stratproof.com.

Will this tell me if my bot will actually make money?

Yes, that's the whole point. You describe your strategy or bot in plain English, we run it through 3 years of real Binance data with honest fees and slippage, and we tell you whether it would have made money in realistic conditions. Most won't. That's what a real backtest looks like.

What does a DEBUNKED result actually mean?

It means the strategy lost money after real exchange fees and slippage across 3 years of data and 10 coins. It does not mean your idea is stupid. It means the exit structure or costs are eating the edge. Often a small change (tighter take-profit, different stop, a fee-baked exit instead of ATR) flips a DEBUNKED to a MIXED or CONFIRMED. The verdict card tells you which.

Will you connect to my exchange account?

No, and that's deliberate. StratProof never sees your API keys, never places trades for you, never holds your funds. We validate strategy ideas. You decide what to do with that information on whatever platform you already use. In 2022 one of the largest trading-bot platforms leaked 150,000 user API keys in a breach. Keys we never have can't be leaked.

Why would I trust your numbers?

Because we publish our own losses. The /proof page shows every live paper trade including the bad days, and our research lab at /research lists every candidate strategy we've tested, including the 99% that failed and the 1% that passed. No cherry-picking. If we lose money, you see it on the homepage.

Why is the live paper trade aggregate negative?

Most crypto strategies lose money after real fees. We run all of them in parallel without cherry-picking. Some are profitable, most aren't, the aggregate reflects that honestly. A “93% win rate” product page would be the scam.

How is this different from TradingView, 3Commas, Cryptohopper, or Freqtrade?

Different layer. TradingView is a charting platform with a backtester that has no built-in walk-forward and assumes optimistic fills. 3Commas, Cryptohopper, and Bitsgap are bot-execution platforms with strategy marketplaces, and their incentive is to surface winners so users subscribe, which produces selection bias. Freqtrade is a free open-source Python bot you self-host. None of those publish the gap between their backtest predictions and live results. StratProof is the validator, not the executor. We test your strategy with six independent gates (walk-forward, Deflated Sharpe, per-fill L2 cost, cross-coin transfer, frozen holdout, regime-stratified consistency) and publish a nightly calibration log at /calibration. If your bot lives on 3Commas or Freqtrade, run the strategy here first to find out whether the edge survives our gates before you fund it.

What does Pro include, and can I get a refund?

$10 one-time, lifetime access. You get unlimited tests (no rate limit), access to the survivor library (the strategies that passed all six gates), and a direct line to me by email. 14-day no-questions-asked refund. Email the address on your receipt and I process it within 48 hours. After 14 days you keep lifetime access regardless.

What if StratProof shuts down?

Pro purchases are refunded in full within 30 days of any shutdown announcement, regardless of how long ago you bought. We'll give 30 days notice before shutting down. The site is run by a small operation (no VCs, no outside investors), so the shutdown risk is real and named upfront rather than buried.
